New Screen Releases in 2019

Brooklyn Nine-Nine, season six

After Fox officially announced the cancellation of the hit comedy Brooklyn nine-nine the internet spent the next several hours mourning the loss of their favorite show. But, less than 24 hours later NBC advertised that starting January 10, they would be picking up season six of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Better yet, NBC has also decided to add an additional five episodes to this next season making it 18 episodes in total.

Avengers Endgame

Releasing on April 26, 2019, Avengers Endgame is arguably the most anticipated movie of the new year, finally wrapping up the Avengers continuity. Despite already having a trailer released for this film, not much is known about what will happen in this film. One of the most popular theories circulating is that many of the avengers will go back in time to the scene of the first avenger movie to somehow try and stop Thanos before he has the chance to gather the Infinity stones.


Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel marks the next act of Marvel’s cinematic universe, the release date for this movie is March 7, making it the first Marvel movie of the year, broadcasting just before Avengers Endgame. Captain Marvel is expected to be the newest main player in the MCU, replacing Captain America and Ironman after Endgame. This movie will also introduce an alien race called the Skrulls, a foe that those who have read any Marvel comic books will be very familiar with.

Spiderman:  Far From Home

Set to be released on July 5, the new Spiderman movie will be the third Marvel movie published in 2019, and the second spiderman movie to star Tom Holland. Spiderman Far From Home will be set in Europe with Peter Parker and his friends on a high school class trip. However, what everyone was surprised to see in the newest trailer was the debut of the beloved Marvel villain Mysterio.

Pokémon: Detective Pikachu

The much anticipated Detective Pikachu movie will be the first live action pokemon movie ever made. Primering on May 10, Detective Pikachu is a comedy movie wherein a young man teams up with Detective Pikachu (voiced by Ryan Reynolds) to uncover the truth behind his father’s sudden disappearance.


The Lion King

As a part of the new sequence of live action Disney movies the Lion King will be released on July 19. It appears to be a recreation of the original Lion King, much like the other soon to be released live action versions of Disney classics like Aladdin, Dumbo and others.


Due to be released on April 5, DC’s movie Shazam is shaping up to be just as bad as every other one of their movies. Although, nobody is surprised, considering DC does not have the best track record with their movies.

Toy Story 4

Not much is known about this Toy Story sequel other than it is due to be released in June of 2019 almost ten years after Toy Story 3, and there will be a few new surprising characters introduced.
