Have you ever thought about what kinds of college scholarship applications are in your future? Well, you will be happy to know that there is a scholarship for pretty much everything, and I mean everything. From making an outfit out of Duck Tape, to being tall, to writing about how to escape zombies, there’s a scholarship out there for you.
Stuck at Prom
Every year, Duck Brand holds an annual contest to see who can make the best prom dress and suit…from Duck Tape. The winning outfits generally take about 100 hours to make and finalize. The dress and suit runner ups get scholarships of $100, and the grand prize winners get a scholarship of $10,000.
Jif’s Most Creative Sandwich Contest
Ever create a weirdly delicious sandwich? If you can create an interesting sandwich using at least two tablespoons of Jif’s peanut butter, you can win up to $25,000. One of the previous winner’s recipes featured Jif Whips Creamy Whipped Peanut Butter as the base for her delicious sandwich made of ladyfingers, crushed pretzels, dulce de leche and milk chocolate. An eight-year-old won the contest by making a sandwich as a version of BBQ chicken and waffles. His final creation was a peanut butter rolled up sandwich served on pumpkin waffles and a pita-style sandwich filled with curried, mango-chutney chicken.
Tall Clubs International
Being tall isn’t just about helping old ladies get things off the top shelf at the grocery store. You can also earn some cold hard college cash just for your genetics. Women at least 5 feet 10 inches and men at least 6 feet 2 inches can apply to receive a scholarship of $1,000. (Yes, this is a real thing. You can get a scholarship just for being tall.)
A scholarship for redheads! Did you know less than 2% of the entire population has naturally red hair? If you happen to be included in that 2%, you can apply for this $500 scholarship. All you have to do is dust off your old childhood photos to prove that you’re a natural redhead and then create something unique that represents what it means to you to be redheaded.
Zombie Apocalypse Essay
Think you can survive when your school is teeming with the undead? What’s your plan? What’s in your go bag? In 250 words or less, explain how you would defy death and escape the zombies by finding a safe place to hide, along with five things you would bring with you in order to survive. If your plan impresses the judges, you could receive a $2,000 scholarship.
